About Us : Our Mission & Our History
SVSP Advanced Composites, or Severn Valley Sailplanes as we were known when we started out in Gloucestershire almost 30 years ago, originally specialised in repairing and servicing gliders.
We have come a long way over the years and, while we no longer service gliders, our experience at developing innovative composite solutions to complex problems is now in demand from the aerospace, motorsport, telecommunications, transport, aviation and military sectors.
However, we remain proud of our roots which enabled our steady growth into one of the UK’s foremost suppliers of machine engineered foam components to leading UK and international clients.
We continually invest in machinery to ensure our manufacturing facilities are equipped to high standards including dedicated areas for manufacturing complex composite parts using a range of pre-preg materials and autoclave curing methods. Our well-stocked warehouse means we can supply foam core materials in full sheet, cut sheet or fully machined parts.
With some of the best equipment and materials available on-site, our engineers and technicians have a wealth of experience at engineering foam materials into bespoke shapes for aerospace, motorsport and other specialist markets. Our team particularly enjoys applying its expertise to solving new research and development challenges.
We actively promote an ‘open door policy’ and encourage clients to visit our facilities and talk to our team about their requirements. Our customer service and quality assurance certifications demonstrate our commitment to providing intelligent precision solutions tailored to individual client needs.
For any company that has been trading for over 30 years there are bound to be changes and SVSP Advanced Composites is no exception. Born from a passion for flying and repairing sailplane the company became a leading centre for the repair of complex composite structures.
The adoption of advanced composites throughout industry was a natural progressive route for the growing company and the acquisition of our first CNC was purely to aid the manufacture of composite parts for a small contract, and to free staff up to get on with more complex hand-based work. With the company growing and a decline in the glider work the company moved it focus to solely providing CNC machined foam parts to aerospace, motorsport and commercial work around 2010.
Over the last 15 years we have continually invested in machinery to ensure our manufacturing facilities are equipped to high standards and represent some of the leading manufactures in the industry. In addition, we hold a wide range of different types of engineering foams and can meet most of our customers requirements needs from stock.
The company has always taken quality seriously and with a background based around aviation it is not surprising that in 2007 we achieved certification to the industry standard AS9100, making us one of the few companies that can supply machined foamed parts to this standard. We actively promote an ‘open door policy’ and encourage clients to visit our facilities and to talk to our team about their requirements.
